SCRA was delighted to be at the launch today of Articulate Animation.

The Articulate Animation – co-written, designed and voiced by young people – focuses on the language used in the Children’s Hearings System.

The short film is a joint initiative with Our Hearings, Our Voice (OHOV) Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) and SCRA.

The animation stemmed from the work of Language Leaders, a group which is made up of young people with lived experience and adults with lived and professional experience across the Hearings System.

Roma Bruce Davies from SCRA said: “We are proud to have been part of Language Leaders who are truly leading the way in changing and improving the language we use in the Children’s Hearings System.

“We are committed to transforming our use of written and spoken language and avoid additional distress and traumatisation for children and young people. Today’s launch was an important milestone in our work to do this.”

At the event in Glasgow, both SCRA and CHS also launched language guides which have been created to support professionals and volunteers in their use of language. Our guide will be reviewed and updated as language in the Hearings System evolves.
