SCRA has welcomed the launch of a public consultation on the redesign of the Children’s Hearings System.

The Scottish Government published the consultation this morning (Friday 26th July) following on from publication of the Hearings System Working Group’s Hearings for Children report.

SCRA’s Policy and Public Affairs Manager, Melissa Hunt, will be co-ordinating our response to the consultation. Melissa said: “We welcome the publication today of the consultation. It is a significant step towards redesigning and strengthening the Children’s Hearings System.”

SCRA will now embark on a period of extensive engagement and consultation with all our staff. This engagement isn’t from scratch – we have our previous work from Keeping The Promise and the Hearings System Working Group as a valuable starting point.

Melissa added: “We will be asking Scottish Government colleagues to come and speak with our staff about the consultation in-person and online, plus we will be offering all staff the opportunity to respond to the consultation through a survey. We will also engage with staff across the organisation, before we develop our organisational response. We are really keen to hear from as many staff as possible.”

If you would like to contribute to our consultation response, we would love to hear from you. You can email us at Policy@scra.gov.uk.
