Getting a Test Before Your Hearing

The Virtual Hearing Support Assistant will contact you either by email or phone to offer you a test ahead of the Hearing. You will be asked what day and time best suits you to carry out the test, taking into consideration school, study and work.

If the Virtual Support Assistant can’t reach you by telephone, they will either leave you a voicemail, send you an email or drop you a text.  If you don’t want to be contacted please let us know.

We can provide a test up to 2 days before your Hearing but we will try to encourage you to do this earlier so we can check if you need anything.

It’s important to take the test from where you will be on the day of your Hearing as connections vary in different places.

You can help ahead of time by doing a speed test of your internet connection and keeping a note of it for us.

You can check your broadband speed here.

Once the day and time has been arranged we will send you the details in an email to join the test room.  The test should take no more than 15 minutes.

Once you have entered the test room you will see the Virtual Hearing Support person. You will then be shown around the different icons and advised on how you can use them.  Ask them any questions you have and they’ll do their best to answer them or find someone who can.

You can test more than once if you still don’t feel comfortable and on multiple different devices to see what works best for you by contacting us at virtualhearings@scra.gov.uk

If you don’t already have the Miscrosoft Teams app installed please see how to do this by clicking on the button below.
